HIT Safety Solutions, Ltd. is a 100% veteran-owned safety consulting and SSHO company based in Ohio, built on real-world field experience and a commitment to ensuring every worker goes home safe.
Founder Edward C. Hartshorn II served more than 12 years in the U.S. Navy Seabees, where he worked as a Naval Safety Officer and Battalion Safety Officer supporting military construction operations across the United States, Europe, and Africa, including work connected to Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Enduring Freedom. His background also includes formal training as a heavy equipment operator through Equipment Operator A School at the Naval Construction Training Center in Port Hueneme, California.
In the private sector, Edward has served as a Safety Supervisor/ Manager on multiple large industrial construction projects involving high-risk operations, complex contractor coordination, cranes, demolition, excavation, steel erection, utilities, and heavy equipment. His experience includes oversight on projects involving one of the largest cranes in North America at the time, as well as planning and executing heavy-lift helicopter operations for the removal and installation of major dust collection systems.
The Department of the Navy formally recognized Edward’s safety leadership through the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for developing and implementing crane lift plans, fall protection procedures, excavation safety planning, and quality control safety measures in support of Seabee construction operations in Rota, Spain, and Senegal, Africa. Through both military and private-sector leadership, he has developed deep experience in EM385-1-1, OSHA 1910, and OSHA 1926 compliance, with a strong focus on hazard prevention, field accountability, and practical safety leadership.
Today, HIT Safety Solutions supports federal, industrial, and large commercial projects with a focus on EM385-1-1 compliance, OSHA compliance, SSHO support, safety oversight, hazard recognition, and high-risk construction operations. The company understands how to work safely around cranes, excavation, demolition, steel erection, utilities, confined spaces, fall hazards, heavy equipment, and complex multi-contractor environments.
